Associate Veterinarian
Position Overview

Tekonsha Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary medical facility located in Tekonsha, MI. Tekonsha is conveniently located alongside I-94 and midway between Detroit and Chicago. You can take a quick 30-minute drive to Battle Creek, where you can enjoy the zoo, Leila Arboretum, Kingman Museum, and even a casino! Here in Tekonsha, we are a small community with the great outdoors at our fingertips. From boating to hiking, fishing to hunting, there are so many outdoor activities to enjoy!

Practice Overview

Tekonsha Animal Hospital is currently a two doctor, rural practice that provides high-quality medicine with cutting-edge technology. We believe in educating our clients while providing top-notch customer service in a fear-free environment. Our practice fosters an environment based on collaboration and teamwork. What You’ll Be Working On

  • Build and maintain client relationships
  • Diagnose, treat and manage a variety of small companion animal cases
  • Provide education to clients and staff on recommendations and choices in care
  • Maintain a positive work environment
  • Guide, utilize, and mentor exceptional support staff

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited program required
  • Be licensed or able to be licensed in the state of Michigan
  • A minimum of one year of experience preferred; open to New Grads too
  • Routine surgical experience preferred
  • Ultrasound experience preferred
  • Experience or interest in working on internal medicine cases preferred
  • Highly motivated, with a desire to lead our amazing team
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated compassion for patients and clients
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team environment

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Engaging and communicating with doctors, clients, and staff
  • Getting and maintaining patient information and records
  • Primary job functions include surgical prep, anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, ultrasounds, and preparing lab specimens
  • Assist veterinarians with exams, surgeries, and animal restraints
  • Be up for a WILD CARD – We work together as a team to deliver top-notch service and care!

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 working as a veterinary technician preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year working in a veterinary practice preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year working with animals in a professional setting required
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and personal development
  • Demonstrated passion for patient care and client service
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient with computer programs like Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet goals and objectives
  • Strong commitment to ethics and integrity

  • Maintain a clean hospital and kennel area, ensuring the comfort of all pets
  • Support staff as needed with clean-up post-surgery, exam or vaccinations
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least one-year experience in an animal handling or customer service role in a veterinary practice preferred
  • Proficient with computer programs like Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)

  • Responsible for payment processing and ensuring accurate client medical records
  • Exhibit attentiveness, patience, and compassion while working with clients and patients in various emotional states
  • Assist in cleaning the clinic, which includes ensuring the reception area is stocked, clean and welcoming

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years working in a customer service role required
  • Prior experience in the veterinary industry preferred
  • Working knowledge of standard industry terminology and pet care products
  • Demonstrate critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated, with a passion for animals and providing great customer service
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with computer programs like Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
